Mumbai cricket fans have a reason to cheer as Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube will join the team for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, starting next week. Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil confirmed that both players are available for the tournament. Speaking to Sportstar, he said, “I spoke to Surya this afternoon and he told me that he will be available for the entire tournament. The same goes for Shivam. We will finalize the team on Friday.”

The news comes as a boost for Mumbai, who have been performing well in domestic cricket. While there has been speculation that Suryakumar Yadav could be made captain of the T20 team if available, the selectors have not confirmed any decision yet. In the Ranji Trophy, Shardul Thakur has been leading Mumbai efficiently, helping the team top Group D. His performance has been praised for guiding the team through a tough season, showing good leadership in the longer format of the game.

Although Suryakumar and Dube will travel with the Mumbai squad to Lucknow, they may not play all group matches. India’s T20I series against South Africa begins on December 9, which could limit their participation in the early games. “We will have a discussion tomorrow and decide on the future course of action. For now, we will pick the side keeping in mind that both Surya and Shivam will be available,” Patil added.

There was also a question about the promotion of Sarfaraz Khan as an opener in the T20 team. The Mumbai chief selector clarified that no immediate plans have been made. The final decision will be taken by the team management after evaluating the situation in Lucknow. This shows that Mumbai is being careful about player roles and strategies while balancing the availability of key players.

Mumbai’s first match in the tournament will be against Railways on November 26. The team management is focusing on building a strong squad that can compete effectively despite the busy schedule and the presence of international players. Having Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube on board gives the team more depth in batting and adds experience, which can be crucial in key matches.

This move also highlights Mumbai’s intent to perform strongly in domestic T20 cricket, keeping players match-ready for international commitments. Suryakumar Yadav, who leads India’s T20I side, brings leadership and consistency to the domestic squad, while Shivam Dube adds power-hitting and flexibility in the middle order.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will serve as an important platform for other Mumbai players to showcase their talent, and the inclusion of these stars provides mentorship for younger team members. Overall, Mumbai looks well-prepared and motivated for the tournament, combining experience, skill, and strategic planning. Fans can expect competitive matches starting November 26, with Suryakumar and Dube contributing to Mumbai’s campaign in a significant way.
