Sophie Grégoire has opened up about the rumours involving former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and global pop star Katy Perry, offering a grounded and introspective take on living under public scrutiny. In a recent appearance on the podcast Arlene is Alone, she discussed how she manages speculation, emotional challenges, and the boundaries between public narratives and private realities.
During the conversation, host Arlene Dickinson expressed admiration for Grégoire’s calm approach to the rumours. Grégoire responded by acknowledging that public attention can be emotionally heavy, but emphasized that personal reactions remain within one’s control. She stated that while being in the spotlight brings pressure, she chooses to “listen to the music instead of the noise.” Grégoire added that much of what circulates publicly can be triggering, yet she remains focused on shaping the woman she aspires to become despite external chatter.
As a vocal mental health advocate, she reinforced the importance of emotional honesty. Grégoire shared that she allows herself to feel disappointment, anger, or sadness whenever necessary, describing these emotions as essential to personal growth and wellbeing. Her openness offered a rare and authentic glimpse into the emotional realities of navigating life after a high-profile separation.
Grégoire also addressed a misconception during the podcast when Dickinson referred to her as a “single mom.” She clarified that she is not one and emphasized the strong co-parenting partnership she continues to share with Trudeau. She explained that Trudeau remains deeply present and devoted to their three children—Xavier, 17; Ella-Grace, 16; and Hadrien, 11. The former couple announced their separation in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage, but have consistently highlighted their commitment to raising their children together.
The rumours involving Trudeau and Katy Perry began circulating after the two were spotted at a dinner in Montreal in July. Trudeau later attended one of Perry’s shows during her Lifetimes Tour stop in Canada, which further sparked speculation about a possible relationship. Perry recently ended her engagement with actor Orlando Bloom in June 2025 after seven years together. The two continue to co-parent their daughter, Daisy Dove, born in 2020.
Grégoire’s comments on the podcast painted a picture of someone focused on emotional resilience rather than media narratives. Her reflections underscored her dedication to authenticity, mental health awareness, and cooperative parenting, even as her former partner remains the subject of public interest. Without fueling speculation, she reminded listeners that personal healing and inner strength matter far more than the noise surrounding any public figure.
