Abu Dhabi, UAE – Under the esteemed patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the 2nd Annual Nursing Conference was inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi on 12 November 2025.

Themed “The SMART Nurse: Integrating Technology with Clinical Expertise to Shape the Future of Patient Care,” the conference explored the transformative role of digital tools and artificial intelligence in modern nursing. It focused on enhancing patient-centered care while preserving the human touch at the core of healthcare.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the conference’s mission: empowering nurses, midwives, and healthcare professionals to combine expertise with empathy. He emphasized the UAE’s leadership in developing a healthcare system that blends technological innovation with moral and humanitarian values. “Nurses are the bridge between knowledge and care. They comfort, heal, and inspire hope,” he remarked, underlining the profession’s role in shaping healthcare’s future.

Over 500 participants from across the UAE and abroad engaged in sessions on leadership in the AI era, clinical simulation training, and case-based discussions demonstrating the practical benefits of digital tools in improving patient outcomes.

The second day featured a live presentation from Abu Dhabi Academy, unveiling an AI-powered solution from the Healthcare Innovation Hackathon. This tool addresses real clinical challenges and will be tested through a six-month pilot program at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Elizabeth Guffeyro, Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, noted the critical balance between technology and compassion: “Technology offers extraordinary possibilities, but its greatest power is realized when guided by the hearts and hands of nurses who see the person behind every data point.”

The conference reinforced Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s commitment to advancing nursing as both a science and an art, fostering innovation while maintaining human-centered care. It further established the UAE as a global model for healthcare excellence where technology enhances—but never replaces—the value of empathy and professional dedication.
