Dubai residents grappling with the aftermath of severe weather conditions, which rendered their homes uninhabitable and left them without access to food, are set to receive assistance free of charge, following a directive from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
In response to the urgent needs of rain-affected communities, Sheikh Hamdan has instructed developers and management companies to take immediate action. They are mandated to provide alternative housing options, distribute food supplies, and offer cleaning services to alleviate the impact of the recent heavy rainfall.
The directive, communicated via a statement on Sheikh Hamdan's official website, outlines a comprehensive set of measures to aid affected residents. This includes arrangements for alternative accommodation, food distribution within affected areas, pest control services, enhanced security measures, assistance in returning to residential properties (including interior cleaning), and support in documenting damage for insurance claims. Additionally, efforts will be made to assess potential risks to properties and mitigate further damage.

To ensure effective coordination, Sheikh Hamdan has tasked the Dubai Land Department and the Real Estate Regulatory Agency with overseeing the implementation of these measures in collaboration with property developers. The objective is to expedite the restoration of normalcy in affected communities.
During a meeting attended by key officials including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and UAE Minister of Finance, Sheikh Hamdan approved the formation of several committees. One such committee will prioritize the review of requests from Emiratis impacted by the adverse weather conditions.
Emphasizing Dubai's commitment to supporting those affected, Sheikh Hamdan pledged personal oversight of the response efforts. A dedicated committee, chaired by Omar Bushahab, chief executive of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, has been established to provide additional support to affected individuals. This committee comprises representatives from various government entities including the Community Development Authority, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and the Department of Economy and Tourism.
Furthermore, a hotline (058 300 9000 via Whatsapp) has been established to facilitate requests for assistance. Citizens impacted by the flooding are encouraged to provide relevant information including their name, ID number, contact details, residential address, and details of family members. They are also urged to describe the extent of the damage and any previous contact with assistance providers.
In addition to governmental support, humanitarian aid will be extended by the Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. The Community Development Authority will activate the 'Jood' platform to facilitate private sector contributions, ensuring timely assistance to affected individuals.
The recent unprecedented rainfall in the UAE led to landslides, road inundations, and widespread flooding, forcing many residents to evacuate their homes and abandon vehicles. With electricity and water supplies disrupted in some areas, residents have appealed for essential supplies such as food, medicine, and drinking water, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive relief efforts.
