His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has declared that Al Dhaid University will officially open its doors on Monday, September 16, 2024. This new academic institution aims to serve the central region of Sharjah and provide job seekers with essential skills to meet industry standards.
The university will house specialized faculties in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, fields crucial to the region's development. Registration for the university is now open, with His Highness emphasizing that exceptional secondary education grades are necessary for admission to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine due to its rigorous and costly nature, akin to human medicine studies.

During a recent segment on the “Direct Line” program aired by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, His Highness extended his congratulations to the central region for this significant development. He underscored the university's distinctive role in offering specialized programs vital for a successful career in Sharjah, noting that its qualifications will greatly benefit job seekers.
The inauguration is scheduled to take place two weeks after the academic year begins, allowing students ample time to acclimate to their new programs.
Al Dhaid University will feature two pivotal faculties. The Faculty of Agriculture has already secured accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education, while the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is in the process of obtaining its accreditation. His Highness highlighted the extensive preparation for the Faculty of Agriculture, which will encompass various study areas including wheat, dairy, poultry, vegetables, and fruit farms. The program will span four years.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will differ significantly from the Faculty of Agriculture in terms of study level and associated costs. Admission to this faculty requires outstanding secondary education grades, given the complexity and expense of the curriculum, which is on par with human medicine. Enrollment is currently open, and a veterinary hospital is being constructed nearby to support both student training and animal treatment. This facility will include external clinics, such as the Mar'aa Al Shamal clinic in the Suhaila area, which is already operational. A new clinic in Mleiha is under construction, set to serve Mleiha, Al Nozha in Al Madam, and Washah pastures. Specialized clinics for cattle and poultry are also available at the university's farms.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also shared positive news for the parents of prospective students. He noted that their children will not only receive quality education but also practical experience through work in various agricultural fields and centers. High-achieving students with a remarkable 90% score in their secondary education have already joined the Faculty of Agriculture. The university's admissions policy focuses on evaluating students based on their academic performance, with a minimum threshold set at 70% to maintain high standards. His Highness expressed his hopes for the continued success of all students and the university's contribution to the region's advancement.
