Sharjah Ruler Decree Establishes Sharjah Media Council (SMC)

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree to establish the Sharjah Media Council (SMC). This council will be chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi.

According to the decree, the council will include the following members:

  1. Mohammed Hassan Khalaf - Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
  2. Tariq Saeed Allay - Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau.
  3. Hassan Yaqoub Al Mansouri - Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council.
  4. Rashid Abdullah Al Obed - Director of Sharjah Media City (Shams).
  5. Salem Ali Hamad Al Ghaithi - Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.
  6. Alia Al Suwaidi - Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau.
  7. Hessa Abdullah Al Hammadi - Assistant Secretary General of the Sharjah Media Council.

The decree states that the term of membership for the council is four years. This term can be extended for another four years or more, starting from the date of the council's first meeting. Even after the term expires, the council will continue its functions until a new council is appointed. Members whose terms have expired may be reappointed.

The establishment of the Sharjah Media Council marks a significant step towards enhancing the media landscape in Sharjah.
