New Leadership for Sharjah’s Cultural Heritage Award
A significant decision from the meeting was the appointment of Aisha Rashid Al Hasan Al Shamsi as the new Secretary-General of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage (SIACH). She will take on this role in addition to her current duties.
According to the council’s decision, the Secretary-General will oversee the strategic and marketing plans for the award, ensure smooth coordination between the council, the judging committee, and other stakeholders, and manage key processes like receiving and classifying nomination applications.
The role also includes leading promotional efforts to increase awareness about the award, organising its launch ceremony, and supervising administrative and financial operations. These responsibilities are designed to further elevate the award’s standing as a prominent platform celebrating cultural heritage globally.
Sharjah’s Economic Growth Under the Spotlight
The council also reviewed a detailed presentation by the Higher Committee for Economic Integration on initiatives aimed at boosting the emirate’s economy. The committee highlighted efforts to propose policies that stimulate GDP growth, promote economic awareness across the emirate, and provide strategic data for investors.
The presentation underlined Sharjah’s progress across key economic indicators and identified opportunities for further improvement. The initiatives are aligned with the emirate’s long-term strategic vision to diversify economic sectors, enhance investor services, and maintain steady, sustainable growth.
Visual Identity Campaign Shows Strong Impact
Another key topic on the council’s agenda was the evaluation of the Sharjah Visual Identity Campaign (2023–2025). Focused on three main pillars—culture, entertainment, and economy—the campaign succeeded in strengthening the emirate’s image both locally and internationally.
Reports showed that the campaign generated millions of views, sparked increased investment interest, and drove higher traffic to the emirate’s official website. Its success has also been reflected in the widespread use of the visual identity across government and private sector events, exhibitions, and marketing initiatives.
Building on this momentum, the council reviewed the new advertising plan, which will emphasise sustainability, well-being, education, knowledge, culture, and the arts. The fresh approach aims to extend Sharjah’s reach to broader regional audiences while maintaining a focus on innovation and inclusivity.
A Forward-Looking Session Focused on Sharjah’s Future
The SEC’s weekly meeting demonstrated the leadership’s commitment to advancing Sharjah’s socio-economic development while preserving its cultural heritage. From appointing a new leader for a globally recognised cultural award to refining economic strategies and visual campaigns, the council continues to steer the emirate toward a future of growth and progress.
