Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, also known as Nazaha, recently announced the arrest of 158 government employees across various ministries last month. These arrests were made as part of a larger investigation into cases of bribery, misuse of power, and other forms of corruption.

The officials detained came from several important government departments, including the Ministries of Interior, Defence, National Guard, Justice, Health, Education, Commerce, and Municipalities and Housing. Some of these individuals have been released on bail while investigations continue.
Nazaha emphasized that it remains committed to eliminating corruption and ensuring public offices operate with transparency and accountability. The authority highlighted its efforts in January, conducting 1,076 inspection tours across different departments. These checks led to the investigation of 396 suspects. As a result, both administrative and criminal cases have been opened against several individuals.
This intensified crackdown reflects Saudi Arabia’s determination to improve the public sector and address concerns over corrupt practices. Authorities aim to send a clear message that wrongdoing will not be tolerated, as they work to promote a clean and honest environment in government institutions.
