Travelers at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah will now have a faster and smoother experience thanks to the launch of 70 new e-gates. These modern machines are part of Saudi Arabia’s plan to improve its airports and make travel more comfortable.
A New System Opened by Prince Saud bin Mishaal

How the E-Gates Help Travelers
The AI-powered e-gates are designed to make the airport faster, safer, and more efficient. These smart gates will:
Reduce waiting time for passengers
Speed up security checks
Help around 175,000 travelers daily
The e-gates are placed in Terminal 1 and the Executive Office areas. Each e-gate can process 2,500 passengers per day, making the process quick and paperless.
Facial Recognition for Faster Security Checks
The e-gates come with advanced technology like biometric verification and facial recognition. This means passengers do not need to show documents manually while passing through security. This new system will make the process much faster than before.
Jeddah is the Third Major Airport to Get E-Gates
Before Jeddah, e-gates were already set up at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Neom Bay Airport. This makes Jeddah the third major airport in Saudi Arabia to get this high-tech system.
Jeddah Airport’s Growing Popularity
In 2024, King Abdulaziz International Airport welcomed 49.1 million passengers and handled 278,000 flights. It is a key airport for people traveling for business, tourism, and religious pilgrimages like Hajj and Umrah.
With these new e-gates, traveling through Jeddah Airport will now be faster, safer, and more comfortable for millions of passengers.
