Driver Crashes Into Crowd at Vancouver’s Lapu-Lapu Festival

A driver crashed his black SUV into a group of people at the 'Lapu-Lapu' Festival in Vancouver, Canada. The festival was celebrating the Philippines' first national hero, Lapu-Lapu. This incident happened on Saturday evening, shortly after 8 p.m., during the Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party. The party was being held near East 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street in Vancouver.

The Vancouver police have arrested the driver and are looking into the situation. They promised to share more information as their investigation continues. At the moment, it's not clear how many people have been hurt or killed because emergency teams are still working at the scene. It's also unclear if the crash was an accident or if it was done on purpose.

Don Davies, the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Kingsway, called the event a "horrific attack" in a post on social media. Vancouver’s Mayor, Ken Sim, also shared his shock and sadness. He said, "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific incident at today’s Lapu-Lapu Day event. Our thoughts are with all those affected and with Vancouver’s Filipino community during this incredibly difficult time."

The police are continuing to gather facts, and more details will be released later. For now, everyone is hoping for the safety of the victims and their families.
