Etihad Airways has introduced a new aircraft, the Airbus A321LR, designed to provide comfort on short and medium-length flights. The A321LR brings Etihad’s famous luxury and first-class experience to smaller planes.
Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad Airways, said, "The A321LR is a great aircraft that shows our commitment to luxury, customer service, and strong connections."

He added that this new aircraft is part of Etihad's big plan for the future called "Journey 2030." The airline wants to double its fleet size, triple the number of passengers, and add 16 new places to fly to by 2025.
One exciting feature of the A321LR is its First Suites. These are private spaces for passengers with sliding doors, beds that lie flat, fancy dining, and special design details. There are only two First Suites on each aircraft, making the experience even more special. This is the first time Etihad has brought its First-class service to a smaller plane, making it a more luxurious choice for short and medium flights.
In Business class, there are 14 seats that can turn into flat beds. Each seat has a screen, a way to charge devices wirelessly, and enough space for storage. Every seat faces forward and has direct access to the aisle.
Economy class is also very comfortable. It has 144 seats, which are wider than most other planes, making them very spacious. Each seat has a screen and a way to charge devices. There is also a new entertainment system to enjoy during the flight.
Etihad’s new aircraft also has super-fast Wi-Fi, so passengers can stream movies, use social media, play games, and watch live TV during the flight.
The airline is expanding its First-class services to more routes, including the ones with the new A321LR. Etihad is also planning to introduce new premium services starting in August.
When passengers book a First-class ticket, they will get extra care from the new Etihad Concierge, available 24/7. First-class guests will also enjoy a private chauffeur service to and from the airport for a smooth travel experience. They will also be taken directly to the First-class lounge and personally escorted through check-in and boarding. After the flight, guests will be escorted to their chauffeur with porter services to carry their luggage.
In Abu Dhabi, First-class passengers will soon get a special service where they don’t have to carry their bags at the airport. If the flight doesn’t leave from the terminal, they will be driven in a private car to the plane.
Neves said, “First class isn’t just about the seat—it’s a whole experience that starts when you book your flight. We are bringing First-class to more destinations and making it even better.”
The first A321LR will start flying on August 1, 2025. Etihad will add 10 of these new aircraft to its fleet this year. The A321LR will fly from Abu Dhabi to places like Algiers, Athens, Bangkok, Chennai, Milan, Zurich, and many more.
With the A321LR at the heart of its plans, Etihad Airways is helping grow tourism and business in Abu Dhabi while giving passengers a top-class flying experience.
