Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna are eagerly waiting for the release of their new film, Sikandar. Directed by A. R. Murugadoss, the movie will hit theatres on Eid, March 30. Ahead of the big release, the two actors sat down for an exclusive interview with India Today. They talked about their experience working together and shared stories from the film’s journey.
Salman Addresses Rumours About His Work Ethic
Over the years, Salman Khan has often been the subject of rumours regarding his work habits. Some people claim that he arrives late on set and doesn’t take his work seriously. However, Salman cleared the air in this interview.

He explained that while his schedule may be different from others, it doesn’t mean he lacks dedication. Salman pointed out that he has worked on over 100 films, which wouldn’t have been possible if he were lazy or careless.
“There are many stories about me coming late and not being serious about my work. But I have done more than 100 films—more than most actors except for my seniors. This wouldn’t have happened if I was always late or leaving early,” Salman said.
The 59-year-old actor shared that he prefers to start his workday later than most. While some actors begin shooting at 6 AM, he usually starts around 11:30 AM or noon. He explained that he has other responsibilities in the morning, such as making calls, signing documents, and working out.
Once he arrives on set, Salman said he gives his full attention. “When I am on set, I don’t even go back to my van. I stay there until we are done. The team sometimes sets up a tent nearby so I can stay close,” he revealed.
Salman Says People Get the Wrong Idea About His Work Style
Salman admitted that sometimes his friends unknowingly add to the rumours. They often joke about his relaxed schedule, but this makes people think he doesn’t work hard.
He explained, “My friends talk about my timings in a playful way. For them, it’s a compliment, but it makes others think I am lazy. They assume I just show up, do my thing, and leave. That’s not true. I put in a lot of hard work—it’s just not always visible.”
Salman also mentioned that being the son of a writer (Salim Khan) helps him naturally think and analyse scenes deeply. Even when he seems calm, his mind is constantly working on how to make a scene better.
Rashmika Praises Salman’s Dedication
Rashmika Mandanna, who stars alongside Salman in Sikandar, shared her thoughts on working with him. She admitted that she had heard several stories about Salman’s work habits before they met. However, her experience on set was very different.
“I had heard many things about Salman before working with him. But I only believe what I see. On set, he was there every day, working hard. I realized that what people say and what I saw were two completely different things,” Rashmika said.
She added that she was confused about why there were so many negative stories around him. “I didn’t understand why people made such a big deal out of it,” she added.
About Sikandar
Directed by A. R. Murugadoss, Sikandar features an impressive cast. Apart from Salman and Rashmika, the film also stars Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sharman Joshi. The film is expected to be a big entertainer and is set to release on March 30, just in time for Eid celebrations.
