Liverpool won 3-2 against Southampton on Sunday. Mohamed Salah scored twice in the second half to help his team come back from behind. This win gave Liverpool an 8-point lead over Manchester City, who lost 4-0 to Tottenham on Saturday. Liverpool now have 31 points from 12 games, while Manchester City has 23 points.
Liverpool were losing 2-1 when Salah scored two goals, bringing his total to 10 goals in the league this season. Dominik Szoboszlai, who scored the first goal, said, “Southampton is a good team, but we reacted well after they scored. We are happy with the three points.”
The match started with Southampton trying to pass the ball from the back. But they made a mistake. Flynn Downes passed the ball to Szoboszlai, who was free at the edge of the box. Szoboszlai scored to make it 1-0 for Liverpool. He added, "We knew they built up from the back, and we took advantage of their mistake."
Soon after, Southampton got a penalty. Andy Robertson tripped Tyler Dibling, and the referee gave a penalty after checking with the video assistant. Adam Armstrong’s penalty was saved by Liverpool’s goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, but Armstrong scored the rebound to make it 1-1.
