On Thursday, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Al Dhaid, hosted a delegation from the University of Liverpool at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre in the university city of Sharjah. The meeting was marked by a warm welcome from His Highness, who emphasized the significance of fostering academic partnerships between Sharjah’s educational institutions and renowned international universities, particularly those in the United Kingdom. Such collaborations are crucial for advancing higher education and scientific research, enabling the exchange of academic expertise and enhancing educational standards for faculty members and students alike. His Highness also highlighted how these alliances support the educational objectives Sharjah is committed to achieving through its strategic educational plans.
The discussions touched on His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan's visionary approach to education, emphasizing a systematic and strategic methodology that has helped build a robust educational infrastructure within Sharjah. His vision has led to the establishment of institutions offering specialized education at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral programs. Sharjah’s educational model, shaped by this approach, is recognized for its commitment to academic excellence, high management standards, the selection of relevant disciplines, and adherence to internationally recognized benchmarks, all aimed at benefiting students and creating a positive learning environment.
Another topic of discussion was the focus on applied scientific studies, which include disciplines like agricultural sciences, medical and health sciences, where local students can gain valuable, practical research experience. His Highness underscored the importance of guiding students toward scientific research in order to enrich their practical knowledge and prepare them for real-world applications within the field.

One of the highlights of the meeting was a review of the partnership between the University of Al Dhaid and the University of Liverpool in veterinary medicine. This program is considered one of the most distinguished in the United Kingdom, recognized by recent global rankings. The veterinary medicine program will soon be part of the University of Al Dhaid’s academic offerings, providing students with access to a top-tier curriculum in this field.
The delegation from the University of Liverpool expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan for his vision and support in facilitating this partnership. They acknowledged that this cooperation opens numerous opportunities for mutual growth in the academic arena, benefiting both the Emirate of Sharjah and the University of Liverpool in multiple educational disciplines.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of gifts. His Highness presented the University of Al Dhaid shield to the Liverpool delegation, while the delegation gifted a memento to His Highness in appreciation of his efforts and the strong partnership between the institutions.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Eng. Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Public Works Department; Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA); Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah; Dr. Aisha Bushlaibi, Chancellor of the University of Al Dhaid; Professor Paul Lawon, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Liverpool; and other academic representatives from both universities.
