Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new digital system to improve how inspections are carried out at metro and tram stations. This system was developed in partnership with Keolis MHI, the company that operates and maintains Dubai Metro and Tram. The goal is to make public transport services more efficient and use modern technology to improve the passenger experience.
With this new system, RTA aims to automate inspection processes and improve how stations are monitored. The technology will help inspectors keep a closer eye on violations, such as passengers using the Gold Class cabin without the right ticket or misusing areas reserved for women. The system will also help RTA decide where inspectors should be placed to focus on high-priority areas where violations happen more often.
One of the key features of this system is real-time monitoring. It allows authorities to track inspectors' work, review ticket checks, and receive live updates. The system also generates reports that help in making important decisions. During major events, inspectors are sent to busy stations based on data analysis. This helps identify areas where violations are more likely to happen so that action can be taken quickly.

The system also keeps records of passengers who frequently break the rules. This helps in educating them about the importance of following public transport guidelines. So far, it has led to a 14% increase in the number of inspections carried out each month and has improved the detection of rule violations. As a result, more passengers are now following Dubai Metro and Tram rules.
Apart from improving security and efficiency, this technology also supports Dubai’s sustainability goals. It reduces the need for additional resources and promotes eco-friendly practices, helping to create a greener and smarter transportation system.
To make the system even more effective, a special monitoring center has been set up to oversee inspection activities in real time. This center is equipped with live monitoring screens that allow authorities to track ticket inspectors, ensuring that violations—especially those affecting passenger safety and comfort—are dealt with immediately.
By using this advanced system, RTA is taking a big step toward making Dubai’s metro and tram services more reliable, efficient, and passenger-friendly.
