Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is marking the holy month of Ramadan with 20 community events and charitable activities. These initiatives will be held at RTA’s headquarters, metro stations, and marine transport hubs, encouraging generosity and social engagement throughout the month.
The activities aim to bring people together, including employees, volunteers, and community members, to spread happiness to different groups such as people of determination, orphans, cyclists, truck drivers, metro passengers, and families in need. These efforts highlight Dubai’s cultural values of compassion and unity, which are especially significant during Ramadan.
Supporting Communities Locally and Globally
Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, explained: “Our Ramadan initiatives are designed to support different members of society, including bus drivers, laborers, delivery riders, truck drivers, and individuals with limited income. These initiatives reflect RTA’s commitment to values like tolerance, teamwork, and social responsibility. They also align with the UAE leadership’s vision in declaring 2025 as ‘The Year of Community.’”

Charitable Initiatives During Ramadan
RTA has planned five key external initiatives that will begin on the first day of Ramadan. These include:
Iftar Saem Initiative: In partnership with Beit Al Khair Society, this initiative provides free Iftar meals to those in need.
Meals on Wheels: Starting in the second week of Ramadan, this program distributes meals to bus, delivery, and truck drivers, as well as labor accommodations and abra commuters.
Metro Station Iftar Distributions: 5,000 Iftar meals will be given out at metro stations, along with symbolic gifts for laborers.
Zayed Humanitarian Workday Initiative
On the 19th of Ramadan, which is observed as Zayed Humanitarian Workday in memory of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, RTA will launch the ‘Ramadan Rations’ initiative. This program provides essential food supplies to low-income families through nol cards, ensuring they have enough to eat during the holy month.
Special Activities for Employees
RTA has also organized 15 activities specifically for its employees, including leadership teams, people of determination, and field staff. These activities aim to foster a sense of togetherness and appreciation. Some key initiatives include:
Group Iftars for field staff, engineers, and different departments.
Departmental Iftars at the Winter Camp to encourage team bonding.
Support for low-income employees through Ramadan Rations vouchers.
Distribution of clothing and food supplies as part of the ‘Meals on Wheels’ initiative.
Through these efforts, RTA continues to promote social solidarity and giving, making Ramadan a time of kindness and community support.
