Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a major agreement worth AED6 billion with Dubai Holding. This agreement aims to improve roads and access points in several key areas of the emirate, making travel easier and faster for residents and visitors.
Expanding Roads in Key Areas
The agreement focuses on upgrading roads in important locations, including Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah, and International City (Phase 3). It will also enhance access to areas such as Dubai Islands, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Palm Gateway, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Park, Arjan, Majan, Liwan (Phase 1), Nad Al Hamar, Villanova, and Serena. The improvements will make it more convenient for people to move around these areas and reduce travel time significantly.

Promoting Faster and Safer Travel
As part of the agreement, Jumeirah Village Circle will have four new entry and exit points with upgraded intersections. This will double the capacity of roads and reduce travel time by up to 70%. Additionally, Dubai Production City will get new bridges connecting it to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, helping to cut travel time on entry and exit points by 50%.
In Business Bay, RTA will improve intersections leading from Sheikh Zayed Road and construct a pedestrian bridge at First Al Khail Road to make crossings safer. Upgrades to internal roads will also help reduce travel time by 30%.
Palm Jumeirah will see major improvements with six new acceleration and deceleration lanes designed to keep traffic moving smoothly. Two new pedestrian bridges will also replace ground-level crossings, making it safer for people to walk and reducing travel time by 40%.
Enhancing International City’s Connectivity
International City (Phase 3) will benefit from an expanded entrance from Manama Street, additional lanes, and upgraded intersections with traffic signals. These improvements will bring travel time down from 15 minutes to just five minutes, ensuring smoother movement within the area.
A Strong Partnership for Dubai’s Growth
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Holding, emphasized that this collaboration between RTA and Dubai Holding reflects their vision of a more connected and accessible Dubai. He highlighted that this project will enhance the quality of life for residents by improving mobility and infrastructure.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, shared his excitement about this partnership. He pointed out that these road upgrades will improve safety, reduce congestion, and ensure smooth traffic flow in high-demand areas.
Amit Kaushal, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Holding, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to building future-ready developments. He stressed that these improvements will not only ease movement but also enhance the overall experience for residents and businesses, making Dubai a better place to live and work.
A More Connected Dubai
This agreement aligns with Dubai’s leadership vision to expand urban infrastructure and improve transport networks. By upgrading roads, bridges, and pedestrian facilities, RTA and Dubai Holding are making Dubai’s communities more accessible, safer, and efficient for everyone.
With these enhancements, travel across key areas in Dubai will become much easier, helping both residents and businesses thrive in a city that continues to grow and evolve.
