Words from Al Tayer: Improving Life Through Smart Services
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of the RTA, said he was happy with the growth in digital services. He shared that the RTA is working hard to offer smooth, connected, and smart services to improve people’s lives in Dubai. He also said that RTA wants to be a leader in using artificial intelligence (AI) to create better and faster services.
Mr. Al Tayer added that the RTA is following the vision of Dubai’s leaders. Their goal is to make Dubai the smartest city in the world. The RTA is using AI for smart data, traffic control, and self-driving vehicles. They are also working with private companies to find new ideas and smart solutions. These efforts are helping make Dubai a hub for innovation and technology.
He also proudly shared that customer happiness with RTA’s digital channels reached 96%, a very high satisfaction score.
Smart Apps and New Features
To make services better, RTA launched more than 33 services on its main app. These include storing driver and vehicle licenses in the app using the Samsung digital wallet, a first in the GCC region. The S’hail app was also upgraded with 9 new updates, making it easier for users to plan their travel. This led to a 12.8% increase in downloads and a 39% rise in transactions, with a total of 46 million transactions.
RTA’s website also got new features. Now, people can rent spaces at metro and tram stations using 360-degree views. Users can also pay online for services at Customer Happiness Centres, use nol card services, and visit a special website for the Delivery Service Excellence Award. These updates helped website transactions grow by 12.5%.
Another big step was upgrading the RTA’s virtual assistant, Mahboub. It now uses AI to give better and faster answers to customer questions in both Arabic and English. The use of AI in Mahboub has increased from 30% to 100%. RTA also added a single login feature for all smart apps and Mahboub, making it easier for users.
Smart Kiosks and Cashless Strategy
RTA installed five new smart kiosks in important locations across Dubai. These kiosks only accept bank card payments, supporting Dubai’s move towards becoming a cashless city.
More Services on ‘Dubai Now’ App
RTA added 15 services to the ‘Dubai Now’ app as part of its 360 Services Policy. These services cover driver and vehicle licensing and are now fully digital. The ‘Madinati’ service also became smarter. It now works with Dubai Municipality and uses AI to check images, find problems, figure out which department is responsible, and create automatic reports.
RTA has already added 46 personal services to the ‘Dubai Now’ app. This is half of the total planned services. The rest will be added soon. RTA has also linked its services on the app with insurance companies and the Central Bank, making it easier for people to buy, sell, register, or export vehicles. The system is now also connected with Dubai Ports for vehicle-related services.
Moving Towards a Smarter Dubai
All these efforts show RTA’s strong commitment to using new technology and smart solutions. Their goal is to build a safe, easy, and high-quality transportation system. These changes support Dubai’s dream of becoming the smartest city in the world, offering a better life for everyone who lives in or visits the city.
