Rohit Sharma is getting a lot of criticism for his captaincy after India lost the pink-ball Test match against Australia in Adelaide. This loss has made many people ask questions about the choices Rohit made as a captain. In the first Test, India had won the match under Jasprit Bumrah’s leadership. But in the second match, Rohit became the captain. Sadly, his decisions were not good, and India lost the game badly by 10 wickets.
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra talked about this on his YouTube channel. He said that Rohit made some big mistakes as a captain. One of the mistakes was how he used Jasprit Bumrah. In the match, Bumrah bowled very well in his first four overs and even got a wicket. But after that, Rohit didn’t let Bumrah bowl again in that session. Many people feel this was a missed chance.

Chopra also said that India didn’t bowl bouncers to Travis Head. Bouncers are short balls that are hard to play. Travis Head is known to struggle with bouncers, but India didn’t use this plan. Chopra said that Head has troubled India before, in big matches like the World Test Championship final, and he did it again here.
Chopra also shared some facts about Indian captains and their losing streaks. He said that Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi lost six matches in a row in 1967. Later, Sachin Tendulkar also lost six matches in 1999. In recent times, MS Dhoni lost four matches in a row twice, and Virat Kohli lost four matches between 2020 and 2021. Now, Rohit Sharma has also lost four matches in a row.
Another problem is that India has now lost three matches at home under Rohit’s captaincy. Losing at home is not common for the Indian team. Chopra said that this shows Rohit’s leadership has not been very sharp and active.
India’s loss in the pink-ball Test has left many fans and experts worried about the team’s plans and Rohit’s leadership. People feel he needs to make better decisions in important moments of the game. India’s next matches will be very important for Rohit to prove himself as a good captain. This loss in Adelaide might teach him a big lesson about being a captain and making smart choices.
