Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s relationship, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated love stories, traces its roots back to 2013 when they worked together on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela. While the film went on to become a major commercial and critical success, it also marked the beginning of a private chapter in their lives that the couple rarely speaks about publicly.

During the recent sangeet ceremony of Netra Mantena, daughter of Padmaja and Rama Raju Mantena, held in Udaipur on November 21, Ranveer offered a rare and heartfelt glimpse into how the romance truly began. Addressing the guests, he reminisced about the early days on the film set, describing Udaipur as a place that unknowingly shaped his future.

According to Ranveer, it was the extended shooting schedule of Ram Leela in Udaipur that brought him and Deepika closer. Though both actors were at the peak of their individual careers at the time, long hours on set, shared creative energy, and the intense emotional arc of the film helped forge a connection that eventually developed into a real-life relationship. He recalled how, amid the vibrant colours of rural Rajasthan, crowded local bazaars, and the old-world beauty of lakes and palaces, their friendship quietly turned into something deeper.

Speaking with unfiltered warmth, Ranveer told the gathering that Udaipur had been a “lucky charm” for his love story. The audience responded with cheers as he reflected on how that spontaneous connection over a decade ago had grown into a long-term partnership. He noted that they have now completed thirteen years together, including seven years of marriage, and are parents to a daughter — a milestone that he described with evident pride and emotion.

Ranveer and Deepika married on 14 November 2018 at Lake Como, Italy, in an intimate ceremony that adhered strictly to their wish for privacy. Only after five years did they share their wedding video publicly, offering fans a rare look at their vows and personal moments.

In September this year, the couple welcomed their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh. Despite maintaining strict privacy around her, they chose Diwali as the occasion to introduce her face to the world through a family photograph that quickly became one of the most widely shared festive images online.

Ranveer’s nostalgic recollection during the sangeet added a new layer to a love story that fans have followed for years — not as a scripted Bollywood romance, but as a genuine partnership that began quietly, grew naturally, and continues to evolve even as both actors balance demanding careers, parenthood, and public life.
