Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is gearing up to attend the dazzling football showdown featuring Lionel Messi's ‘GOAT India Tour’ on December 13, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. This friendly match will see Messi’s team face off against the squad led by Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who extended the invitation to both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi during a recent trip to Delhi.
In preparation for the hour-long spectacle, tight security measures are in place, anticipating around 39,000 fans in attendance, along with 2,500 police personnel to ensure crowd control. Only ticket holders will gain access to the stadium, with traffic restrictions enforced on the busy roads encircling the Uppal area. Special routes for VIPs—including Messi, Rahul Gandhi, and CM Revanth Reddy—have also been established.
Messi is scheduled to arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 4 p.m. before checking into the luxurious Taj Falaknuma Hotel and then heading to the stadium for the match. After the game, he will return to the hotel. CM Revanth Reddy, donning jersey number 9, has been actively practicing with his team, while Messi will flaunt his iconic number 10 jersey.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has indicated that a massive turnout of football enthusiasts is expected, urging fans to arrive early for a seamless experience. Additionally, IT Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted that Messi's involvement in the event will support a social cause as well.
This match forms part of the “Telangana Rising” festivities, with authorities aiming for Messi to serve as a global ambassador for the state, emphasizing sports, tourism, and investment potential. The occasion underscores Telangana's rising enthusiasm for significant sporting events, showcasing it as a vibrant and impressive region on the world stage.
