PureHealth and its app, Pura, have set a Guinness World Record for the most people to complete a remote 1 km walk in 24 hours, with the help of Active Abu Dhabi. On November 29, 2024, almost 4,000 people from across the UAE joined the walking challenge, well above the required 250 participants.

This event was a part of Active Abu Dhabi, which is a project by the Emirates Foundation and PureHealth. It showed how working together can create a healthier and more active society. The event proved that when people join forces, they can make a big impact on promoting better health.
The challenge was powered by Pura, which made it easy for people to join the walk from anywhere. Pura used GPS technology to track each person’s walk in real time, making it fun and interactive. This shows how PureHealth is committed to encouraging healthy living and helping communities stay active.
His Excellency Ahmed Taleb AlShamsi, CEO of Emirates Foundation, said, “This Guinness World Records™ title makes us all proud. It shows how working together can help create a healthier society. This success represents the unity of our people and the importance of active living in bringing us closer together.”
Shaista Asif, CEO of PureHealth, said, “This record shows how powerful health projects driven by the community can be. It proves that small actions, when done together, can lead to big changes in how we take care of our health. Through Pura, we help people focus on wellness and make healthy habits a part of their lives. This record is not just about a title, but about creating a legacy of health and community connection for years to come.”
Mansoor Al Dhaheri, Founder of Active Abu Dhabi, said, “This Guinness World Records™ title is a proud moment for all of us. It shows how much our community cares about staying healthy and active. Active Abu Dhabi is all about building a healthier society, and this achievement proves how strong we are when we work together. The excitement and participation we saw is inspiring, and this is just the beginning of our mission to bring positive change to the emirate.”
Studies show that walking 1,000 extra steps a day (about 10 minutes of brisk walking) can reduce the risk of death by 15%. Active Abu Dhabi wants to inspire people to make small changes that lead to better health and longer lives.
This world record follows the success of Active Abu Dhabi’s Walk1000 event, where athletes walked 1,000 kilometers across the Abu Dhabi desert to show strength, unity, and the joy of being active. Since March 2024, Active Abu Dhabi has been focusing on health, culture, and the environment.
PureHealth’s support of these health projects helps people take care of their health, stay active, and be part of their communities.
