Punjab Cop Amandeep Kaur Held with Heroin, Dismissed

On Thursday, Punjab Police dismissed a senior woman constable named Amandeep Kaur after she was caught carrying heroin. She was arrested a day earlier during a drug raid under the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign called ‘Yudh Nasheyan De Khilaf’ (War Against Drugs).

According to the police, they received a tip that led them to take action. Amandeep Kaur was travelling in her SUV, a black Mahindra Thar, near the Badal flyover in Bathinda when police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) stopped her vehicle.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Harbans Singh Dhaliwal shared that during the search, they found 17.71 grams of heroin in the vehicle. Amandeep was not alone. She was with a man named Jaswant Singh.

At the time of her arrest, Amandeep Kaur was working with Mansa Police but was currently attached to the Bathinda Police Lines. After her arrest, she was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, which deals with crimes related to drugs.

Known as “Insta Queen”

On social media, Amandeep Kaur is quite popular. Her Instagram account, where she uses the name "police_kaurdeep", has more than 37,000 followers. She often posted short videos (reels) in her police uniform, sitting in her Thar, wearing big sunglasses and a fancy watch, and listening to Punjabi songs. She was also seen using an expensive iPhone.

There is already a rule from the Director General of Police (DGP) in Punjab that police officers should not post videos or photos in uniform that make them look like models.

In some of her videos, she also spoke in support of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was killed in 2022.

Serious Allegations by Another Woman

After Amandeep’s arrest, a woman named Gurmeet Kaur came forward with more shocking claims. In a Facebook video, she said that Amandeep was in a live-in relationship with her husband Balwinder Singh, who works as an ambulance driver. Gurmeet also claimed that Amandeep and Balwinder used the ambulance to sell heroin.

She further alleged that Amandeep Kaur owns a house worth around Rs 2 crore, multiple vehicles, and even a watch worth over Rs 1 lakh. Gurmeet said she had informed the police about this earlier, but no action was taken at that time.

Now, the police are looking into where Amandeep got the drugs from and where she was planning to take them.
