Tragedy struck on Tuesday when a Singapore Airlines flight encountered severe turbulence, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old British man and leaving over 70 passengers injured. The flight, SQ321, was en route from London to Singapore when it hit unexpected turbulence, prompting terrifying moments for those on board.
Passengers described the harrowing experience, recounting how the plane suddenly dropped and passengers not wearing seatbelts were launched into the ceiling of the Boeing 777-300R aircraft. Dzafran Azmir, a Malaysian student on the flight, vividly recalled the chaos, with people sustaining head injuries and concussions as they collided with the cabin interior.
Witnesses reported scenes of panic and injuries as the turbulence threw passengers around the cabin. Andrew Davies, a British passenger, described seeing fellow travelers with head lacerations and bleeding ears, while Jerry, another passenger, highlighted the lack of warning before the plane plunged, causing chaos and injuries.

Initial analysis by Flightradar24 suggested that the turbulence lasted for more than a minute, during which the aircraft violently rose and plunged multiple times over Myanmar. The flight crew swiftly initiated a sharp descent and diverted the plane to Bangkok for an emergency landing.
Kittipong Kittikachorn, director of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, provided insight into the injuries sustained, noting that most affected passengers suffered blows to the head. Despite conflicting reports on the exact number of injuries, both the airline and hospitals confirmed a significant number of passengers requiring medical attention, with some admitted to hospitals for treatment.
The incident underscores the unpredictability of air travel and serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols, including wearing seatbelts during flights. As authorities investigate the cause of the turbulence, passengers and crew members continue to recover from the traumatic ordeal, with many grappling with the physical and emotional aftermath of the terrifying experience.
