Dubai Health Completes 234 Successful Kidney Transplants

Dubai, UAE – December 2025: Dubai Health has announced the successful completion of 234 kidney transplant surgeries since the launch of its kidney transplant programme in 2016, achieving a remarkable success rate of over 95 percent. The initiative underscores the effectiveness of cross-sector collaboration in advancing life-saving healthcare services.

The programme is delivered through partnerships with federal, local, and private-sector entities, including the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Dubai Airports, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, Dubai Public Prosecution, and Mediclinic City Hospital, among others. This initiative is aligned with the national Hayat Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, ensuring broad access to critical treatments.

Since its inception, the programme has facilitated transplants for patients of various nationalities, with children representing 31.2% of recipients. A total of 120 procedures were performed at Dubai Health hospitals, 90 at Mediclinic City Hospital, and 24 at Al Qassimi Hospital. Both living and deceased donors contributed to this achievement, reflecting heightened community awareness on organ donation.

His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), said:

Dubai Health ensures multidisciplinary care throughout the transplant process, from comprehensive assessments and surgical procedures to structured long-term follow-up, maintaining the highest standards of medical excellence.

Supporting patients, the Al Jalila Foundation operates initiatives like ‘Your Donation Saves Lives’, encouraging organ donation and funding treatment. This programme has covered costs for 66 patients (31.4% of all transplant cases). Additionally, the ‘A’awen’ programme provides essential care for those unable to access or afford specialised treatments, demonstrating Dubai Health’s commitment to healthcare accessibility.

Dubai Health continues to offer specialised kidney care at Dubai Hospital, Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, Al Twar Dialysis Center, and Al Barsha Dialysis Center, ensuring patients receive world-class medical services.
