The Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Association has announced the Barcelona International Championship, scheduled for Sunday at La Marbella Municipal Complex, attracting competitors from around the world.
The one-day event will feature male and female participants across all age categories, including kids, juveniles, juniors, youth, men, and masters, catering to both amateurs and professionals.
Zaid Egleton, Operations Director at the Association, confirmed the official weigh-in schedule:
The competition will begin at 10:00 am Barcelona time.
The professional category winner will earn 600 points in the annual international ranking along with a cash prize, underlining the championship’s technical significance and attracting elite international players.
This championship is part of Abu Dhabi’s global jiu-jitsu expansion, reinforcing its position as a leading centre for the sport through international competitions that promote talent development and participation.
The event also reflects the ongoing success of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro Association, supported by the UAE leadership, establishing jiu-jitsu as a key national sport.
Beyond competition, jiu-jitsu promotes discipline, patience, endurance, self-confidence, and focus, contributing to the UAE’s sporting identity and solidifying Abu Dhabi as a global jiu-jitsu capital.
