A new company started by Sam Altman and Jony Ive is working on a secret project to make smart gadgets. Now, OpenAI, the company led by Sam Altman, is thinking about buying this new company. They might also work together instead of buying it fully. People say the deal could be worth more than 500 million dollars.

Jony Ive, who helped design the iPhone when he worked at Apple, is leading this new project through his design company called LoveFrom. This team is making new kinds of smart gadgets for people to use at home. One idea is a phone-like item that does not have a screen. It works differently than normal phones. Some designs look simple like the first iPhone, but the final products may be very different.
We don’t know much about these new gadgets yet. Some people say they are trying to make home devices and tools that don’t look like regular computers. It’s not clear if they have a working model yet.
If OpenAI decides to buy the company, the group of workers who build the gadgets might join OpenAI. But a few top designers who used to work at Apple may not join, even if the deal happens.
Sam Altman and Jony Ive were introduced by Brian Chesky, the head of Airbnb. Altman is not officially named as the maker of this new company, but people say he is very involved. It’s not clear how much money he has put into it.
If this deal happens, OpenAI could move beyond just making software. It could also start building real gadgets that people can touch and use. Other tech groups are already working on this, like the makers of small smart pins and special hand-held tools.
