Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has named singer Shreya Ghoshal as the ideal artist to introduce global audiences—especially “Bollywood virgins”—to Indian music and culture. Speaking on American pop icon Ciara’s podcast, Nora described Shreya as “an icon” with “the most beautiful voice I have ever heard.”
The Canadian-Moroccan artist recently collaborated with Ghoshal on the song Oh Mama! TETEMA, which has been gaining attention for its blend of Hindi and international sounds. Reflecting on their partnership, Nora said, “She sings the Hindi part, and I promise you, Ciara, you will message me in a few days saying, ‘Wow!’ She has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. She sings the most iconic tracks of some of the most iconic movies.”
During the podcast, Ciara asked Nora to name one Bollywood artist she would recommend to those unfamiliar with Indian music. Without hesitation, Nora named Shreya Ghoshal. “Anyone who wants to understand Bollywood music and culture, the spirit of Bollywood, should listen to her,” Nora said, describing Ghoshal as a “walking autotune” because of her flawless pitch and consistency.
Nora’s admiration also revealed her deep respect for artistry and musical mastery. “When they told me I was going to sing with her, I was scared. I'm not a vocalist. I'm a vibe-ist. I give the vibe. But she is a true vocalist,” she admitted.
The song has become a talking point not only for its catchy tune but also for how it brings together two powerhouse female artists from different musical backgrounds—Nora representing the global pop-dance arena and Shreya embodying traditional Indian excellence.
She has won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer five times and the Filmfare for Best Female Playback Singer in five different languages, making her one of the most decorated singers in Indian cinema.
While Nora Fatehi initially gained fame as a dancer and performer in hit numbers like Dilbar, Saki Saki, and Garmi, she has steadily expanded her creative boundaries. In recent years, she has taken strides toward building an international music career.
In 2024 and 2025, Nora has collaborated with global and Indian artists including Jason Derulo,Shenseea, Honey Singh, and Shreya Ghoshal, bring
Her artistic evolution—from dancer to singer and performer—underscores her ambition to represent Indian entertainment on an international platform. Her statement about Shreya Ghoshal, therefore, comes from a place of both admiration and understanding of what it takes to achieve global resonance through music.
By recommending Shreya as the gateway for international audiences, Nora has emphasized the timeless appeal of melody, emotion, and authenticity—qualities that define Ghoshal’s artistry.
The conversation between Ciara, Nora, and the mention of Shreya Ghoshal represents a symbolic bridge between Western and Indian pop culture. With artists like Nora introducing Indian music to new audiences and icons like Shreya representing its essence, Bollywood’s influence continues to transcend borders.
As Nora Fatehi put it simply: “Anyone who wants to understand the spirit of Bollywood should listen to Shreya Ghoshal.”
