One of the main highlights was a huge light display at Al Faisaliah Tower, lighting up Riyadh’s sky and showing creativity and new ideas. The event had 18 Saudi artists and 43 artists from other countries, with works specially made for the festival and placed in unique locations.
Some of the most loved art pieces were Higher Power by Chris Levine, a stunning laser light show at Al Faisaliah Tower; Shifting Perspectives by Maryam Tariq, exploring how people see things differently at Digital City; and Aether by United Visual Artists, an amazing drone show at King Abdulaziz Historical Center. Another famous piece was The Fifth Pyramid by Rashed AlShashai, which stood for Riyadh’s cultural growth and change.
Khalid Al-Hazani, the head of Riyadh Art, spoke at the end of the festival. He said, “Noor Riyadh 2024 connected people to the stars, brought inspiration, and shared stories through art. We are excited to keep building Riyadh’s journey as a city of culture.”
Nouf Almoneef, the festival leader, also gave thanks to everyone who made the festival happen. She said, “This year’s festival brought together artists from all over the world for an amazing event. I thank our team, volunteers, partners, and the millions of people who came to see the festival. You made it special.”
The festival also had fun activities for the community, with over 52,000 people joining in. These included talks, hands-on workshops, guided tours, and family-friendly events. These activities brought people together and let them experience art in a fun way. A hardworking team of guides, curators, and helpers made sure everyone had a great time.
Many groups helped make Noor Riyadh a success, such as the Ministry of Culture, JAX District, Al Khozama, Riyadh Region Municipality, Digital City, Visit Saudi, and others. Their support was very important in bringing the festival to life and making it meaningful for everyone.
Noor Riyadh is part of Riyadh Art’s bigger goal to turn Riyadh into a city full of public art and culture. Riyadh Art has also added famous art pieces like Alexander Calder’s Janey Waney and Robert Indiana’s LOVE (Red Outside Blue Inside), which were put up along with the new Riyadh Metro. Since 2019, Riyadh Art has shown over 500 artworks from more than 500 artists, welcoming millions of visitors.
Noor Riyadh shows Saudi Arabia’s strong focus on creativity and public art. It is helping Riyadh become a world-famous cultural city, while bringing people together and sharing new and exciting art with everyone.
