His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has emphasized the importance of spreading hope and recognizing those who work hard to promote kindness and optimism. He has launched the search for the Arab Hope Makers for the fifth edition of the initiative. This is the largest initiative of its kind in the Arab world, which celebrates people who are making a difference through their charitable, social, and humanitarian work.

The Arab Hope Makers initiative started in 2017, and it aims to highlight individuals who are improving their communities and helping those in need. These people use their resources and time to make a positive change, and the initiative wants to honour them by sharing their inspiring stories.

Sheikh Mohammed said that hope is what helps people grow and communities succeed. He stated, “Humans are nourished by hope. Communities flourish on hope, and even the most difficult challenges become easier to manage with hope.” He also said that while some people bring negativity to the region, the focus should be on spreading hope and optimism. Sheikh Mohammed believes that many unsung heroes in every community are working to spread hope and kindness. This initiative is a way to recognize their hard work and encourage others to do the same.

He encouraged everyone to participate, saying, “In every community, there are people who dedicate themselves to spreading hope and kindness. Let us celebrate these Hope Makers and recognize their efforts as examples for others.” He also invited people to nominate themselves or others through the platform arabhopemakers.com. Sheikh Mohammed ended by saying, “May God guide us to be beacons of hope, positivity, and optimism for a brighter future in our region.”

Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, the Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), spoke about how successful the Hope Makers initiative has been since it began. He said that the initiative has helped find many examples of Arab philanthropy and has inspired millions of people to get involved. Al Gergawi explained that the initiative is about focusing on the positive things happening in Arab communities, instead of dwelling on negativity. He also mentioned that the initiative highlights projects that help the sick, poor, orphans, and unemployed.

He added, “This initiative is a call to fight negativity by focusing on the good work happening in our Arab communities.” The initiative has received over 300,000 nominations so far, showing how many people are committed to making a difference. It has brought hope and optimism to the region.

This year’s search for Arab Hope Makers is built on the success of the previous editions. The initiative continues to promote giving and highlights people and organizations that are working on projects that improve lives in their communities. These projects could be about improving education, health, or economic systems or solving local problems—all of which are done on a volunteer basis.

Nominations for the fifth edition of the initiative can be made by anyone who wants to recognize someone for their good work. The winner of the award will receive AED 1 million to help further their work. Nominations can be submitted through arabhopemakers.com, and the initiative aims to collect many stories of hope from across the Arab world.

The Hope Makers initiative first began in 2017 when Sheikh Mohammed posted an ad on social media offering a job as a "Hope Maker" with a reward of AED 1 million. The announcement was a huge success, with over 65,000 submissions coming from individuals, volunteer groups, and organizations across the Arab world.

In the fourth edition, Sheikh Mohammed honoured four finalists who had made a significant impact on their communities. These finalists were Tala Al Khalil from Iraq, Mohamed Al Najjar from Iraq, Amine Imnir from Morocco, and Fathiya Al Mahmoud from Egypt. Their projects included helping communities, providing humanitarian aid, supporting education, empowering youth, and promoting health and culture.

The Arab Hope Makers initiative encourages young people to take positive action and challenges them to focus on the good in their communities. The goal is to inspire others to follow these Hope Makers and contribute to making the Arab world a better place.
