In a significant achievement for the UAE’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence, thirty-seven senior leaders from various organizations have successfully graduated from the fifth cohort of the Executive Program (MEP) at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). This cohort, which spanned 16 weeks, provided participants with insights from world-renowned AI experts, emphasizing the transformative potential of AI in tackling societal challenges and promoting sustainability across different industries.
This year’s cohort showcased a diverse range of leaders from both government and industry sectors, including energy, finance, law, transportation, logistics, health, sports, and education. Notably, 57% of participants came from government positions, 86% were UAE Nationals, and 68% held C-suite roles or higher. Among them, 19% included undersecretaries, secretaries-general, CEOs, and director generals.
The organizations represented in this cohort included prominent entities such as the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, the UAE Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Department of Government Enablement (DGE), Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, M42, Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Etihad Airways, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), and Emirates Post.

The fifth cohort marked a milestone as the first to engage in the newly enhanced MEP, which has been extended by four weeks compared to previous editions. This version of the program placed a stronger emphasis on industry-specific applications of AI principles, ensuring participants could apply their learning directly to real-world scenarios.
Under the theme “Cohort of Sustainability,” the program celebrated gender diversity, with nearly half of the participants being women. This inclusive approach fostered a variety of perspectives and innovative ideas in the capstone projects submitted, aligning with the UAE’s second Year of Sustainability initiative.
The capstone projects, which addressed key national challenges, included innovative solutions such as an AI-powered system designed to enhance traffic management in Abu Dhabi, an application to tackle chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular issues, and a platform to boost agricultural productivity sustainably. Other initiatives focused on elevating specific sectors in the UAE, including a personalized learning platform for schools, a collaborative solution bridging academia, industry, investors, and government to spur innovation, and a strategy aimed at cultivating a vibrant sports culture and industry.
Professor Timothy Baldwin, MBZUAI Provost, commended the cohort, stating, “The fifth MEP cohort exemplifies what is possible when talented leaders are empowered with transformative tools like AI. The participants combined their leadership skills with imagination, empathy, and entrepreneurial thinking, showing what ethical AI can achieve to improve lives. Their six AI solutions hold the potential to address some of society’s most pressing challenges, not only in the UAE but around the world.”
The judging panel recognized FalconVision as the winning project for its innovative proposal aimed at gathering data to assist government and private stakeholders in the athletic identification and development of individual children.
In addition to classroom learning, MEP participants engaged with various organizations, including ADNOC, DGE, ENEC, and Al Tamimi & Company, to apply their AI insights in practical, industry-relevant contexts. This hands-on approach further enriched their educational experience and prepared them to leverage AI solutions effectively in their respective fields
