Microsoft Reports Russian Hackers Accessed Client Emails: Sources

Washington: Microsoft Corp has reportedly informed several of its clients that a hacking group backed by the Russian state breached its internal systems, gaining unauthorized access to their emails, according to a report by Bloomberg News on Thursday. The company spokesperson cited in the report mentioned that Microsoft is also providing affected clients who were previously notified with specific details about the data that was compromised.

As of the latest update, Microsoft has not responded to requests for comment from Reuters, despite inquiries sent via email. Attempts to reach Microsoft spokespersons by phone have also gone unanswered.

This recent incident mirrors a similar cybersecurity breach reported in January, where Microsoft disclosed that a Russian state-sponsored group had successfully hacked into its corporate systems.
