Meta recently removed several fake profiles on Instagram that were managed by AI. Many Instagram users found these accounts to be strange and were upset. The fake accounts had pictures of people and said they were "AI managed by Meta." Some of these fake profiles showed a dating coach, a writer, and even a mother from the LGBT community.

These profiles acted like normal users, sharing everyday pictures and posts, like real people do. But the problem was, these profiles weren’t real people. They were made by AI. Some users also said they couldn’t block these accounts, which made them even more frustrated.
Even though fake profiles controlled by AI have been on Instagram for a while, people only started noticing and getting upset about them recently. Meta has now removed these accounts, and when people try to visit them, they see a message saying, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
This situation made many people wonder if it’s right to let AI take over fake profiles on social media. Some people think it’s important to know if the person they are talking to online is real or not. Meta’s decision to remove these accounts shows they are trying to fix the problem, but the situation raised a lot of questions about using AI in social media.
This event shows that there needs to be more care and attention to how AI is used on online platforms like Instagram. Users want to know when something is real or fake, so they can trust the content they see.
