During the MWC25 event in Doha, Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) formalized a framework agreement with Informatica, a global leader in data management. This pivotal agreement was signed by MCIT's Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations, Sami Mohammed Al Shammari, alongside Yasser Shouki, Informatica's Vice President for Emerging Markets in the Middle East and Africa.
The partnership aligns with Qatar's national objectives to create a robust data ecosystem and enhance the central database's integrity, ensuring it serves as a reliable source for informed decision-making. Informatica was selected through collaboration with the National Planning Council, reflecting a commitment to the government’s digital transformation vision.
Al Shammari noted the Ministry's dedication to upgrading the nation's digital infrastructure, focusing on establishing the essential frameworks for digital systems within the government. This involves enhancing data governance processes and adopting innovative technologies, forming national capacities to leverage data strategically for effective decision-making.
In a statement, Ahmed Hassan Al Obaidly, Director General of the National Statistics Center, underscored the agreement's significance in crafting a superior governance framework. He articulated that it will standardize national definitions, streamline data sharing among government bodies, and elevate the accuracy and quality of data. The goal is to ensure seamless data integration across different government platforms, thereby establishing a central database as a trusted source of official information and statistics.
Al Obaidly reiterated that this collaboration supports Qatar’s National Data Strategy, fostering an integrated national data governance approach. It reinforces the concept of data as a valuable national asset, furthering the ambitions outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy. The initiative aims to improve the quality of statistical outputs vital for informed policymaking and public services.
Expressing enthusiasm, Yasser Shouki highlighted the alignment of the strategic partnership with Qatar's digital transformation goals, enabling entities to harness the full potential of their AI-ready data via advanced cataloging, integration, and governance tools.
Informatica’s technologies will empower Qatar to integrate, manage, and unify its data efficiently while facilitating cloud-based and AI-driven analytics. This collaboration reflects Qatar's dedication to deploying advanced technologies to craft a modern, reliable, and interconnected data ecosystem for government operations.
With this agreement, Qatar is poised to solidify its role as a frontrunner in regional digital transformation, ensuring that government entities can access high-quality, well-managed, and actionable data. Additionally, the partnership paves the way for innovative digital services that enhance efficiency, transparency, and decision-making across the public sector.
