In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) has restarted large-scale food aid deliveries worth AED 43 million to the Gaza Strip. The initiative, launched in partnership with the UN World Food Programme (WFP), is once again transporting essential food parcels to thousands of vulnerable families.
The convoys resumed movement as soon as border crossings reopened, continuing the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to support Gaza by land, sea, and air. This renewed aid follows MBRGI’s commitment, made in January 2024, to provide AED 43 million (USD 11.7 million) in direct food assistance to benefit one million people in Gaza.
The UAE’s response has remained consistent and timely throughout recent crises. In 2023, Sheikh Mohammed directed AED 50 million in urgent relief for the Palestinian people. In September 2024, Dubai Humanitarian coordinated the delivery of over 71 tons of medical supplies through Egypt’s El Arish port, strengthening emergency operations in the region.
In addition to food support, MBRGI allocated AED 37 million (USD 10 million) earlier this year to enhance Gaza’s healthcare services, focusing on the needs of children and hospitals facing shortages.
MBRGI, the largest foundation of its kind in the region, continues to expand its global humanitarian footprint. In 2024 alone, it spent over AED 2.2 billion to reach nearly 149 million people in 118 countries. Of this, AED 944 million was directed toward humanitarian aid and relief programmes, assisting more than 37 million people worldwide.
Established in 2015, MBRGI brings together over 30 initiatives under one umbrella, with a mission to combat poverty, promote education, and build resilient communities across the world. The renewed aid convoys to Gaza reflect that enduring mission—delivering hope, stability, and essential relief where it is needed most.
