The announcement took place at Arab Health 2025, the leading event in the healthcare industry, which is being held in Dubai at the World Trade Centre until January 30.
This new partnership between the two organizations emphasizes their shared goal of improving patient care, encouraging new ideas, and making Dubai a global leader in healthcare. Both institutions are focused on improving clinical practices, making operations more efficient at American Hospital Dubai, and using the latest technology to offer better care.
One of the key aspects of this partnership is the creation of Dubai’s first Doctor of Medicine (MD) medical school. This school will be guided by the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, and it will train future healthcare leaders. The medical school’s curriculum will follow international best practices and include advanced facilities, programs to help teachers improve, and hands-on learning.
Since 2013, American Hospital Dubai has been part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, using Mayo Clinic's expertise to improve its clinical practices and ensure top-quality patient care. This new collaboration builds on that success by introducing new initiatives like a healthcare simulation center for training doctors, improving workflows to make the hospital more efficient, and expanding specialty services to handle complex medical issues. This will help solidify American Hospital Dubai’s position as a leading healthcare provider in the region.
This partnership will also focus on research and innovation. Mayo Clinic’s knowledge will help American Hospital Dubai build a research framework that supports both research and patient care. They will work together to optimize resources, combine research and clinical operations, and create new treatment methods that meet global standards. Mayo Clinic will also assist American Hospital Dubai in improving its patient-first approach by enhancing clinical practices, streamlining operations, and offering all-around care. This will allow patients in Dubai and the surrounding areas to receive advanced treatment without needing to travel abroad. It will also help the UAE reach its long-term healthcare goals and make Dubai a global center for medical tourism and healthcare excellence.
Sherif Beshara, Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai, expressed excitement about the new partnership: "We are thrilled to take our relationship with Mayo Clinic to the next level. By combining clinical excellence with education, we can create a strong foundation for healthcare transformation. Our goal is to set new standards in patient care and continue to make Dubai a global hub for medical excellence."
Biju Samkutty, Chief Operating Officer of Mayo Clinic International and Enterprise Automation, also spoke about the importance of this collaboration: "The new medical school is a great example of our shared dedication to both patient care and education. By merging high-quality education with top-notch healthcare, we are helping create a future where innovation and compassion lead the way."
This partnership promises to bring lasting improvements to healthcare in Dubai, support the region’s medical development, and make Dubai a world leader in healthcare and education.
