The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has shared great news about the success of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) treatments in the emirate. In 2024, Abu Dhabi achieved an impressive over 51% success rate in IVF procedures, ranking among the highest in the world. In total, 695 babies were born through IVF at specialized healthcare centers across the emirate.

This achievement shows how committed the Department of Health (DoH) is to providing the best healthcare services to people, helping to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in healthcare.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), infertility affects one in six adults, meaning that 17.5% of adults around the world face challenges in having children. For these people, assisted reproductive technologies (ART) like IVF offer hope. Abu Dhabi has focused on addressing these challenges by developing strong laws and policies that ensure people have access to high-quality IVF services that meet global standards.

Dr. Fayeza Alyafei, Executive Director of the Healthcare Quality Sector at DoH, explained that many people worldwide face difficulties with fertility, and healthcare systems must act quickly to help them. She said, “Abu Dhabi’s amazing success in IVF shows our commitment to improving reproductive health services. We want to offer world-class medical services, not just to people in Abu Dhabi but from all over the region.”

In 2024, Abu Dhabi saw the opening of two new IVF clinics, bringing the total number of licensed healthcare facilities in the emirate to 14. There are also 45 maternal and delivery centers across the city, where 2,800 healthcare professionals work, including over 700 specialists and 375 midwives.

Abu Dhabi’s healthcare system offers services in many areas such as Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), reproductive medicine, and infertility treatments. The Department of Health is also focusing on improving research, innovation, and training to meet the needs of families looking to start their own.

Abu Dhabi’s growing success in fertility treatments shows that the emirate is a leader in helping people who want to start families. The Department of Health is dedicated to improving services and making sure everyone has the best care available.
