In a shocking event in southern Brazil, a massive replica of the Statue of Liberty fell victim to strong winds on Monday, December 15. Standing at 24 meters tall, the structure, located in the parking lot of a Havan retail store in Guaíba, near Porto Alegre, collapsed without causing any injuries.

Social media was abuzz with videos that captured the statue teetering precariously before it finally toppled over, as vehicles continued to pass by the busy roadway nearby. Positioned adjacent to a fast-food restaurant, this attraction drew considerable attention from locals and shoppers, although the area was relatively empty when the incident occurred, preventing any injuries.

Earlier in the day, local officials had issued a red alert, warning residents about the potential for severe winds. The civil defense team urged the public to remain indoors, secure their homes, and disconnect electrical devices as a precautionary measure. Despite these guidelines, the intense gusts succeeded in bringing down the iconic replica.

The Havan retail chain, which owns the statue, confirmed the incident and expressed commitment to cooperating with authorities in investigating the circumstances of the collapse. Civil defense representatives indicated that a technical evaluation would take place to understand the reasons for the fall and offer recommendations to avert similar occurrences in the future.

Following the collapse, the situation quickly became a trending topic on social media. In India, the phrase "statue of liberty fall down" topped Google Trends on Tuesday afternoon, with numerous users searching for related queries like "Brazil statue of liberty", "statue of liberty collapse", and "statue of liberty replica Brazil".

While strong winds have caused damage in various parts of southern Brazil before, the dramatic downfall of this large Statue of Liberty replica has drawn worldwide attention. This incident underscores the necessity for robust safety measures in regions vulnerable to severe weather, particularly concerning large structures and public areas.
