Martinez secures vital win for Man Utd against Fulham in Premier League clash

Lisandro Martinez scored a late goal to give Manchester United a 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday. His long shot in the 78th minute took a big deflection off a Fulham player and went into the goal.

Manchester United was looking for their fourth league win under new coach Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November. The first half was not good for United, as they created very few chances. Fulham had the best chance in the first half, but Emile Smith Rowe could not take his shot.

In the second half, United played better. Captain Bruno Fernandes almost scored with a smart free-kick, but it was Martinez’s lucky deflected goal that made the difference.

United had to defend hard to keep their lead. Young player Toby Collyer made a key goal-line clearance to stop Fulham’s Joachim Andersen from scoring. Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz missed two great chances to equalize in the last minutes of the game.

Amad Diallo thought he had scored another goal for United in added time, but the referee ruled it offside after checking VAR.

This win moved Manchester United to 12th place in the league table, just four points behind Fulham, who are in 10th place. It also marked United’s eighth straight league win at Fulham’s home ground.

The team has struggled with bad form recently, losing six of their last nine league games. This win is a big boost as they try to do better in the league.

Fulham will feel unlucky, as they had good chances but could not score.
