India’s Smriti Mandhana has once again ascended to the top rank in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, overtaking South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt. Despite maintaining her rating at 811 points, her consistent contributions helped her regain this spot. Wolvaardt, who had seen her team triumph over Ireland, slipped from 814 to 806 points after scoring just 31 runs in the match.
South Africa began their series against Ireland on a high note, winning the opening match by seven wickets in East London. Key performances by Sune Luus and Miane Smit, who both scored half-centuries, allowed them to pursue a target of 210 runs in only 37 overs. Following this game, Luus climbed five spots to a joint 31st in the ODI batter rankings and advanced ten places, landing at 33rd among all-rounders.
Ireland also improved its standing in the rankings, with Orla Prendergast moving up one spot to 10th in all-rounders and Laura Delany climbing three places to 16th. Additionally, Prendergast advanced two places to 34th among ODI bowlers after finishing with figures of 1/34 in the match. Other teammates, including Arlene Kelly, Cara Murray, and Laura Delany, also saw gains in the bowling rankings.
South African pacer Tumi Sekhukhune claimed two wickets during the opening match against Ireland, leading her to a seven-place rise to 78th in the ODI bowling rankings. The latest updates reflect a thriving competitive scene among women cricketers from India, South Africa, and Ireland, showcasing their outstanding on-field achievements.
