Mahima Chaudhry has opened up about her breast cancer journey, sharing that the disease was discovered during a routine annual check-up in 2022. She explained that she had absolutely no symptoms, no discomfort, and no reason to believe something was wrong. The diagnosis came as a complete shock because she had not gone for a breast cancer screening; it was just a normal yearly health test.
Speaking at the Young Women Breast Cancer Conference 2025, Mahima said she had no idea that cancer could be growing silently without showing any warning signs. She stressed that early cancer cannot be detected by self-examination alone and that only medical tests can identify it at the right time. She urged everyone to follow regular health check-ups so that any serious condition can be caught early and treated promptly.
Mahima also talked about how cancer treatment in India has changed since her diagnosis. She said that many generic medicines have become much cheaper, pharmaceutical companies are offering better support, and awareness about breast cancer has increased significantly. Listening to other survivors’ stories gave her a lot of courage and motivation during her treatment.
After recovering, Mahima slowly returned to work. She recently appeared in the film The Signature, starring Anupam Kher. Her next release is Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi, co-starring Sanjay Mishra, which is set to arrive later this month. Despite her tough journey, she continues to focus on her career while using her story to encourage people to prioritise health and early screening.
