Jannik Sinner ended his tennis season with a powerful and emotional victory in the year-ending championship in Turin. The Italian crowd was loud and full of energy, cheering his name throughout the match. When Sinner won the final point, he fell to the floor in happiness before running to celebrate with his team. The arena echoed with chants of “Sinner, Sinner,” making the moment even more special. This win added another major trophy to his successful season, which already included titles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
This year has been one of Sinner’s best seasons as a professional tennis player. He reached four Grand Slam finals and won two of them. But his journey was not without challenges. Earlier in the year, he faced a three-month ban because of accidental contamination with a banned substance called clostebol. The World Anti-Doping Agency later accepted that the contamination was accidental, but the ban still kept him away from the sport for months. Even after this setback, Sinner returned stronger and played some of his best tennis.
After his win in Turin, Sinner spoke to reporters about how important this season has been for him. He said he felt he had become a better player compared to last year. For him, this improvement matters more than the number of trophies he won. Sinner believes that working hard every day brings results, and this year proved that his approach works. He said that becoming a better player step by step is part of the process, and he is proud of the progress he made.
Sinner’s victory also continued his impressive performance on indoor hard courts. He has now won 31 straight indoor matches, a streak that began after losing the 2023 championship match in the same arena to Novak Djokovic. If Sinner wins four more indoor matches, he will tie Djokovic’s total for the second-longest indoor winning streak in the Open era. The longest streak belongs to John McEnroe, who won 47 straight indoor matches. Sinner has also not dropped a single set in the Finals since his loss to Djokovic two years ago.
Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner’s opponent and one of the best players in the world, was disappointed after the match. Alcaraz won eight tournaments this year and finished the season as world number one. But he struggled in important moments of the final. He said he kept thinking about certain shots he missed, especially backhand volleys that he normally hits well. Those errors cost him key points that could have changed the match. Alcaraz said he was especially upset about one backhand volley that came at a very important moment.
The match between Sinner and Alcaraz was close and intense from the start. Both players served strongly, and the first set went to a tie-break. Sinner took the lead with a perfect lob and sealed the set with a powerful serve that Alcaraz could not return.
The second set started poorly for Sinner, as he made two double faults that gave Alcaraz an early break. Sinner had not lost a service game in the whole tournament until that moment. But he stayed focused and broke back in the sixth game, sending the crowd into loud cheers. The match stayed tight until the final point, when Alcaraz sent a backhand wide. At that moment, Sinner dropped to the ground in joy before rushing into the stands to celebrate with his family.
After the match, Sinner said he felt many emotions at once. He felt tension during the final point because if he had lost it, the set could have gone into another tie-break. He also felt relief because the long season was finally ending. He said the feeling this year was even stronger than last year.
Sinner’s win in Turin was the perfect ending to a season filled with hard work, challenges, and great triumphs. It showed his growth as a player and confirmed his place among the very best in the world.
