The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi), in partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, has launched the Life Endowment Campaign under the slogan “With You for Life” to support patients with chronic diseases who cannot afford treatment. This campaign is part of the Year of Community, announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, highlighting generosity, kindness, and community solidarity.

The campaign aims to ensure the sustainability of healthcare services by raising funds to cover treatments for chronic illnesses, provide essential medications, and offer mental health support to those in need. Rather than spending the funds immediately, the campaign will establish an endowment, investing the money safely so that the returns can continuously help patients over many years.

As part of a larger Healthcare Endowment initiative launched in May 2024, the campaign plans to raise AED 1 billion to strengthen and sustain healthcare services for the future. His Excellency Fahad Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, emphasized the importance of endowments in community support and pledged that donations would be carefully invested to preserve their value and maximize long-term social impact. He described the campaign as a source of hope for patients with chronic diseases who struggle to pay for treatment, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to kindness and social solidarity.

Her Excellency Dr Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said the campaign aligns with the UAE’s vision of improving public health by providing a sustainable way to help those most in need. She assured that the funds would be directed efficiently to healthcare programs focused on specialized care, easing the financial burden on patients and supporting their ongoing treatment. Dr Al Ghaithi highlighted the campaign’s role in fostering inclusive and lasting healthcare improvements, benefiting patients and their families.

The campaign works with two main fundraising partners: the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, known for its humanitarian work since 1983, and the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, which channels donations toward community development projects. His Excellency Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of Emirates Red Crescent, stressed that reviving endowments strengthens social responsibility and generosity within the UAE, helping families afford costly medical treatments. His Excellency Abdullah Hamid Al Ameri, Director General of Ma’an, highlighted the campaign’s role in uniting the community to support healthcare and improve the quality of life across Abu Dhabi.

This campaign reflects the UAE’s leadership in humanitarian efforts through teamwork, strategic planning, and sustainable impact. Endowments play a vital role in expanding charitable work, supporting vulnerable groups over the long term, and encouraging ongoing community participation. By joining the Life Endowment Campaign, the people of the UAE demonstrate their commitment to standing together with generosity and compassion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
