Dubai Basketball’s newest signing, Wael Arakji, has shared his excitement about becoming the team’s first Lebanese player. The 30-year-old is a talented basketball player, recently named the MVP of the 2024 Basketball Champions League Asia after helping his previous team, Al Riyadi, win the championship. Now, Arakji is ready to start a new chapter with Dubai Basketball.

Dubai Basketball is currently ranked second in Europe’s ABA League during its first season, and Arakji’s ambitions align with the team’s goals. He is excited about the opportunity to be part of a club with such big ambitions. “Dubai Basketball is building something special, and I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success,” Arakji said. “They have a clear vision for growth, combining international standards with their plan for the future, and I’m excited to be part of it.”
Arakji is also thrilled about playing in the ABA League, where he can compete against top teams and test himself at a high level. With previous championships in Lebanon, Qatar, and Tunisia, Arakji is determined to add Dubai to his list of victories.
He has two Asia Champions League winners’ medals and even spent a summer training with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. These experiences have helped him build a strong reputation, and many basketball fans in the Middle East are excited to see him play for Dubai Basketball.
“My goal is to help Dubai Basketball compete at the highest level and push for championships,” Arakji shared. “I want to continue improving my skills, build strong teamwork with my teammates, and make a big impact on both offense and defense.”
Not only is Arakji Dubai Basketball’s first Lebanese player, but he will also be the first Lebanese athlete to play in the ABA League. This is a huge honor for him, and he’s proud to represent Lebanon on the court.
“It’s an incredible honor to be the first Lebanese player to join Dubai Basketball and the ABA League,” Arakji said. “I’m proud to represent my country and take this important step forward in my career.”
