Actress Kim Chiu has embarked on legal proceedings against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, by filing a qualified theft complaint due to alarming financial discrepancies uncovered in their joint business dealings.
On Tuesday, December 2, Kim, along with her legal counsel, presented the complaint at the Quezon City prosecutor's office. Images from the event depict her giving a sworn statement inside the Department of Justice building.
In an emotional address, Kim shared that the choice to pursue legal action was among the most challenging she has faced. She noted that a thorough review over several months compelled her to take this action, underlining the necessity to protect not only her business interests but also the jobs of their employees.
Her legal team has yet to provide additional insights regarding the complaint’s specifics or the business in question.
The rift between the siblings became noticeable earlier this year, with fans observing their mutual unfollowing on social media amidst speculation about a business conflict. Despite this tension, in 2023, Lakambini had publicly acknowledged Kim's support during a personal health ordeal, reflecting a previously strong relationship.
