Khalifa University of Science and Technology has announced that it will host the eighth RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP 2025) event. This exciting competition will take place in Abu Dhabi from November 12 to November 17, 2025. This is a big moment for the United Arab Emirates because it shows how much the country is growing in the field of robotics. It also proves that Khalifa University is a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and robots that can work on their own.
RCAP 2025 is being organized with help from the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau. During the event, Khalifa University will showcase many different types of robots in eight main groups. These include RoboCupSoccer (robot soccer), RoboCupRescue (robots for rescue missions), RoboCup@Home (robots that help at home), RoboCupJunior (for younger students), and others like the Industry-Sponsored League and RoboCupIndustrial. There will be 15 smaller groups inside these main ones. The event will also include special challenges and demonstrations. In total, there will be 34 competitions with 14 for the main leagues and 20 for the junior division. These competitions cover soccer, rescue missions, industrial robots, and home robots. Around 1,900 participants from different places are expected to join.

The event supports important goals for the UAE, such as smart transportation, using AI to help protect the environment, and solving local problems with technology. RCAP 2025 will focus on big ideas like “Sustainability,” “Changing Industries,” “Energy-Efficient Robots,” “Green Manufacturing,” and “AI-Powered Sustainable Models.” The teams are encouraged to build robots that are friendly to the environment, use materials that can be recycled, and use AI to save resources.
Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, the President of Khalifa University, said, “Hosting RCAP 2025 is a great honor for Khalifa University and the UAE. It shows how Abu Dhabi is becoming a key place for advanced robotics and AI. This event will help us encourage new ideas, help young people learn and grow, and work together with people around the world. Since this year is the UAE’s Year of Community, which focuses on bringing people together and supporting each other, this event is a wonderful chance to inspire young minds, include different communities, and show how robots and technology can help society.”
Abu Dhabi won the chance to host RCAP 2025 thanks to Khalifa University’s growing reputation worldwide. This happened after their robotics team called KURA (Khalifa University Robotics Athletes) earned second place in the Kid-Size Humanoid League at RoboCup 2024 in The Netherlands. This was the first time the University took part in this global competition.
Besides the contests, Khalifa University plans to increase interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through programs like RoboCupJunior. They are also working with partners from schools, companies, and governments in the region and around the world to make sure RCAP 2025 is a big, global event.
This event will bring together many smart minds and robots to help build a better future using technology.
