His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, attended the third round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (No-Gi), held from 27-29 September 2024 at Al Bait Metwahed in Sharjah. Organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the event is part of the country's ongoing efforts to elevate the sport of jiu-jitsu both domestically and internationally.

His Excellency participated in the awarding ceremony, presenting medals to the winners in the Masters and Adults categories. While commending the remarkable skill and dedication displayed by the athletes, Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon expressed his pride in the outstanding performances, reflecting the growing prowess of jiu-jitsu within the UAE. He also praised the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for its tireless work in promoting the sport, broadening its base of practitioners, and further establishing the UAE—specifically Abu Dhabi—as a global hub for jiu-jitsu.
The competition attracted over 1,500 athletes competing across multiple categories, including Adults, Masters, U12, U14, U16, and Youth divisions, demonstrating the growing participation in the sport. The three-day event highlighted the increasing talent pool and commitment to jiu-jitsu among various age groups within the UAE.
Accompanying His Excellency at the event were several key figures in UAE jiu-jitsu and sports administration, including His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club; and Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
His Excellency Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, extended his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon for his continued support and active involvement in the sport. Al Hashmi highlighted that the tremendous progress and success in jiu-jitsu within the UAE is a direct outcome of the guidance and support of the nation's leadership. He emphasized the role that jiu-jitsu plays in promoting physical fitness, discipline, and noble values in the community, while also fostering a new generation of champions who are poised to represent the UAE on the global stage.
Al Hashmi further noted that the presence of Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon at the event serves as a powerful motivation for all those involved in the sport. His Excellency’s engagement and support have created a nurturing environment for UAE athletes, driving them to excel in competitions both locally and internationally. The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation remains committed to transforming this support into tangible achievements, with the ultimate goal of making UAE champions the best in the world.
As the championship continues to grow, it not only underscores the UAE’s position as a leading force in the global jiu-jitsu community but also reflects the broader vision of the nation’s leadership to foster a culture of athletic excellence and empower future generations through sport.
