India’s star batter Jemimah Rodrigues has joined the Brisbane Heat squad for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and brought her cheerful personality along. Fresh from India’s first-ever ICC Women’s ODI World Cup triumph, Jemimah was welcomed warmly in Australia. She shared a light-hearted moment when asked how the team received her after her arrival.

Jemimah played a key role in India’s historic World Cup win. The 25-year-old delivered a match-winning performance in the semi-final against Australia, scoring an unbeaten 127 runs during a thrilling run chase of 339. Her knock helped India secure a memorable victory and advance to the final. India later defeated South Africa by 52 runs to clinch their maiden World Cup title.

After reaching Australia to join the Brisbane Heat, Jemimah was asked how she felt returning to the country soon after India’s dramatic win over the Australian team. With her usual sense of humor, she replied, “I was not sure if Australia would allow me to cross the border to come here after the semi-final, but honestly, everyone’s been so warm and welcoming.”

She went on to add that the overall mood in Australia was positive because people appreciated how much women’s cricket had grown globally after the World Cup. “Everyone is just so happy in general because of the growth women’s cricket has seen after that win. We know it’s going to change massively, not just in India but all over the world,” she said.

Jemimah’s playful remark soon went viral, and Australian cricketer Beth Mooney decided to join in on the fun. During a Women’s Big Bash League match between the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, Mooney responded with her own humorous comment while speaking to commentators through the stump mic.

“We heard Jemi say earlier that she was worried they weren’t going to let her into the country because they beat us, but I actually thought they weren’t going to let us back in for losing,” Mooney joked. “Thankfully, immigration let me in.”

Her witty remark drew laughter from both fans and commentators, highlighting the friendly spirit shared among international players despite the intense rivalry on the field.

Before losing to India in the semi-final, Australia’s women’s cricket team had been in dominant form, holding a 16-match winning streak in the Women’s World Cup. The loss to India ended that impressive run. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team outplayed the defending champions in all departments, with Jemimah’s brilliant innings being the highlight of the match.

Despite her jokes about border entry, Jemimah received a warm welcome from her new Brisbane Heat teammates. The franchise, known for its lively dressing room culture, was thrilled to have her join the squad. Coaches and players praised her energy and positive attitude, saying it added extra motivation to the team.

Jemimah also shared that she was excited to play in Australia again and hoped to continue her good form from the World Cup. She mentioned that adapting to Australian conditions was always a challenge but one she looked forward to.

India’s victory and Jemimah’s rise as a match-winner have further boosted the visibility of women’s cricket. Fans across India and around the world celebrated the win as a turning point for the sport. The tournament’s success also led to increased discussions about investment, opportunities, and global exposure for women cricketers.

Jemimah expressed her happiness at being part of a movement that inspired millions of young girls to take up the game. “We want to keep growing women’s cricket so that the next generation has even more opportunities than we did,” she said.

With the World Cup celebrations behind her, Jemimah is now focused on performing well for Brisbane Heat in the WBBL season. Her inclusion strengthens the team’s batting lineup and brings in international experience. Fans are eager to see her entertaining stroke play and bubbly personality shine on Australian soil once again.

Jemimah Rodrigues continues to win hearts both on and off the field. Her cheerful comments and humble attitude have made her one of the most loved players in modern cricket. As she starts her WBBL campaign, fans from India and Australia alike will be watching closely, hoping for more moments of joy and brilliance from the young star.
