Modi, UAE President Discuss West Asia Crisis, Hormuz

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a telephonic conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss the rising tensions in West Asia amid the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.

During the call, both leaders strongly emphasized the need to ensure safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments.

Prime Minister Modi condemned recent attacks targeting Gulf countries, highlighting the loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure. He reaffirmed India’s clear stance against violence in the region.

In a post on X, Mr. Modi said he conveyed advance Eid greetings to the UAE President and described the discussion as important amid the evolving situation in West Asia.

Both leaders agreed to continue working closely to support the early restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.

This marks the second conversation between the two leaders since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, which triggered retaliatory actions by Iran against several Gulf nations.

Since the conflict began, Prime Minister Modi has also engaged with leaders from multiple West Asian countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Israel, and Iran, as part of India’s ongoing diplomatic efforts.
