India captain Harmanpreet Kaur moved up one spot to 7th place in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings on Tuesday. Her teammate Smriti Mandhana continued to hold the top spot. This change came after Harmanpreet scored two fifties in India’s recent ODI series against Australia, finishing as the team’s highest scorer with 132 runs in three matches at an average of 44.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Sophie Devine dropped two positions to 9th place. Another Indian batter, Jemimah Rodrigues, stayed in 12th place. New Zealand’s Maddy Green rose five places to 17th after scoring 94 runs against Zimbabwe, helping her team win by 200 runs. Amelia Kerr of New Zealand also moved up from 21st to joint 19th place after scoring 80 runs and taking 5 wickets in the same series, earning the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.
In T20I rankings, Amelia Kerr remained 8th but reached a career-high 694 rating points after her 78-run innings against South Africa. New Zealand’s Georgia Plimmer jumped nine places to 41st after scoring 63. India’s Deepti Sharma moved to 35th in T20I rankings, while Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Smriti Mandhana, and Richa Ghosh held their positions.
The India women’s cricket team recently won the T20I series against Australia 2-1 but lost the ODI series 3-0 and also suffered a 10-wicket defeat in the one-off Test. Their next tour is against South Africa starting April 17, with five T20Is, which will be important preparation for the Women’s T20 World Cup in England later this year.
